David Buckley - Researcher

David is a graduate student at Plymouth University studying for a Master's degree in Sustainable Environmental Management. He feels that this project is a unique opportunity to combine his academic interests in ecology, society-environment interactions and science communication, with his longstanding passion for exploring new places and cultures. David is also a keen climber, skier and surfer, which fill in any gaps in his timetable and continually inspire him to search for adventure both at home and abroad.

David holds a BSc (Hons) Biological Sciences degree and was a team memeber of  the Arctic Jubilee Expedition 2012. This historic expedition, who's patron was HRH The Prince of Wales, marked the Diamond Jubilee by holding the world's most remote Diamond Jubilee Tea Party and climbing to the highest point of the Queen Elizabeth Islands in Arctic Canada. His achievements related to this project were formally recognised by Plymouth University through his nomination for the 'Spirited' Vice Chancellor's Award 2012 for a significant contribution to the university, as well as being a winner of the Roland Levinsky Award for career development and encouragement to achieve an individual's full potential.

As a researcher, David has a particular interest in exploring possible methods of uniting the various perspectives which help to determine our relationship with nature. He seeks to encourage integration between the sciences, arts, humanities and education; and aspires to promote formal and informal learning through a combined approach to understanding our environment guided by the principles of science, the literary and visual arts and field education.

Will Darby - Filmmaker

Will Darby grew up in Norfolk, England where his love of the outdoors first started. He has since travelled to some of the least known parts of the world and developed his passion for filmmaking to communicate these places to audiences; with the goal to inspire, educate, entertain and conserve.

Will has most recently been credited as cameraman on a documentary for Australian TV following a motorbike crossing of the continent. He has also been working on his own production, Chimba’s Children, a journey deep into Melanesia, on the trail of monster crocodiles, to be released later this year.
